At Asian Business Radio we recognise that privacy is important. This Privacy Policy applies to all services and websites offered by Asian Business Radio and our other "Asian Business" branded websites.

Information we may collect and how we might use it
We offer a number of services that do not require you to register for an account or provide any personal information to us. In order to provide our full range of services, we may collect the following types of information:

  • Information you provide – There may be times when we require you to register or we ask you for personal information (such as your name, email address and an account password). There may be some times (such as ordering premium services or products) that we also request credit card or other payment account information. These are maintained by third parties (such as PayPal and other well-known banking organisations) that we trust to encrypt such information on secure servers. There may be times when we combine or insert the information you submit under your account into any other sites that within our network of "Asian Business" branded sites, while others may require separate registration.
  • Cookies – When you visit sites within our network of "Asian Business" branded sites, we may send one or more cookies – a small file containing a string of characters – to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. We use cookies to improve the quality of our services by storing user preferences and tracking user trends. Some of these cookies may also be seeded by third parties we trust (such as Google) for our website statistics, serving advertisements or keeping you logged in. We may set a cookie in your browser when you log in to one of our sites or click on an ad. Our cookies mean you no harm and you are always welcome to clear out your cookies in your web browser's preferences.
  • Log information – When you access our web sites, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website. These server logs may include information such as your pages you request, your Internet Protocol address (important for our spam-fighting efforts), browser type, browser language, the date and time of your requests and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser.
  • User communications – When you send email or other communications to us, we may retain those communications in order to process your enquiries, respond to your requests and improve our services.
  • Other sites – This Privacy Policy applies to our "Asian Business" web sites only. We do not exercise control over third party sites we may link to or that link to us. These other sites may place their own cookies or other files on your computer, collect data or solicit personal information from you. We suggest, wherever possible, that you read and understand their privacy policies too.

There are a number of ways in which this personal information might be used. Such purposes include:

  • Providing our services to users, including the display of customised content and advertising;
  • Auditing, research and analysis in order to maintain, protect and improve our services;

The personal information processed by ourselves or our trusted third parties may take place on servers in multiple countries. In some cases, we may need to process personal information on a server outside your own country. We may process personal information to provide our own services as well as on behalf of our advertising partners and with companies that provide some of our services (such as our commenting system).

Information security
We do our best to protect against unauthorised access to or unauthorised alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. For your own security,when you create any accounts on our web sites, that the password you create is unique from any other accounts you may use (in particular your email or online payment accounts). This password should also ideally be as long as possible and feature both uppercase and lowercase letters as well as numbers.

Data integrity
We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we process is accurate, complete, and current, but we depend on our users to update or correct their personal information whenever necessary.

Accessing and updating personal information
When you use our services, we do our best to provide you with access to your personal information and to either correct this data if it is inaccurate or to delete such data at your request if it is not otherwise required to be retained by law or for legitimate business purposes. We ask individual users to identify themselves and the information requested to be accessed, corrected or removed before processing such requests, and we may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardise the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backups), or for which access is not otherwise required. In any case where we provide information access and correction, we perform this service free of charge, except if doing so would require a disproportionate effort.

We restrict access to personal information to employees of our "Asian Business" branded sites and our trusted third parties who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

Changes to this Privacy Policy
Please note that this Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without your explicit consent, and most changes will be minor. Any Privacy Policy changes will be posted on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice either on The ABR Blog or via email.
